Love One Another...an Ethical Expectation

Christ's command to "love one another" wasn't given to remind us to love those whom we like...that's easy. The hardest thing to do is to love those who we are struggling to like at all, those who have hurt us, are mean to us or someone we love. Yet this "love one another" isn't a nice idea or suggestion for us in times when we feel a loving emotion towards someone, but it's an ethical expectation given by our Creator, the One who knows what is best for us. Not one place in the Bible does it suggest we should hold on to a grudge; or be unforgiving, mean, hurtful, or spiteful. No, constantly the Word encourages and commands us to love one another and forgive one another just as He has done for us (John 13:34).

I am the worst of sinners and He did and does that very thing for me daily! I'm so humbled and grateful for His forgiveness and love. It's hard to do, but why not end this year and start off 2017 forgiving someone you need to forgive, and working on loving those in your life who are most unworthy of love. Merry Christmas!
