His Fullness, Our Fullness

"For the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily in Christ and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority" (Colossians 2:9).

Have you ever really thought about how this verse applies to us, those who are true believers and followers of Jesus Christ? Those who have the Holy Spirit dwelling within? It says that the ENTIRE fullness of God is in Christ Jesus, and then it says that we have been filled by Him! Therefore, we are completely sufficient in Him. I have known this, theoretically, but practically, I forget it all the time. Why is it that we are all constantly searching for sufficiency through something or someone else? He has given us everything we need.

Think about the FULLNESS in that verse? What is God's fullness? He is Omniscient (all knowing), Omnipotent (all powerful), and Omnipresent (constantly everywhere). Therefore, because of God's omniscience, I can know that God knows everything about me, everything about my future, all my pain, my fears, my anxiety, what brings me joy, what makes me angry or laugh. Because of his omnipresence I can know that I am never alone. No matter the circumstances, the fact is I AM NOT ALONE. Because of his omnipotence, what do I have to fear? I know that He is all powerful and his will is above all and no one can stand against Him; there is nothing and no one that does anything outside of His power. The only reason I begin to question His power is when I disagree in how I think things should have been handled (my way). The problem I have is not with a lack of trusting in God, but trusting too much in my own false capabilities and power. When I recognize the truths of who God is, I can truly find rest. He is the Alpha, the Omega... the Beginning and the End. Why would I ever turn to anyone or anything else before first turning to Him?
