Character Over Calories

Proverb of the Day: Proverb 31:30 for January 31 This month I completed 41 years! I know, you were thinking 21 . Crazy! But, here’s the deal, I’m no different than the next female in that I want to stay looking young as long as possible. I also, would love to look nice, and I don’t believe there is anything wrong with that desire, nor do I think my husband thinks that’s a bad thing. However, in this world of the latest quick fix fad diet, weight-loss system, look like you’re 15 again face cream, and fit in to a size 0 jean overnight wrap… we can easily lose our focus as Godly women

. God desires us to be women who long to please Him even more than we please our husbands, our children, our boss, or ourselves. He longs that we focus more on our character and our spiritual well-being than our waist-size and our wrinkles. Don’t get me wrong, our bodies are the temple of Christ and I do believe, whole heartedly, that we should take care of them physically, mentally, and spiritually; but not at the expense of our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Question for you to ask yourself today ladies: how much time do spend each day growing your character, your relationship with the Lord? Vs. How much time to do you spend trying to bring back time, trying to primp and pamper yourself because you believe you have to look a certain way? Do you believe that you have to look a certain way to BE someone, to have value? Remember that when God knit you in your mother’s womb, when He created you and gave you value, it had nothing to do with your looks, or your waistline, or your youth… it had everything to do with WHO created you. You are LOVED and you are of great worth. You are AMAZING because you are created in the image of God. Focus on your character and your relationship with Him and you will be amazed at how young you may feel. God bless and have a FANTASTIC day!
